Las Vegas Shopping: The Fashion Show's recent $1 billion expansion wasn't just about adding
major anchor stores such as Nordstrom. The suits in charge also
included entertainment in a multi-million dollar runway that stretches
down the center of the mall's west wing. Bowling tournaments, press
conferences involving retired mob lawyer Mayor Oscar B. Goodman flanked
by feathered showgirls and, of course, fashion shows are held there
regularly.
The anchor department stores now count seven, with Nordstrom and
Bloomingdales Home being two of the main, and most-awaited, additions.
Aside from the upscale Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, shoppers
can also take in the sales at Macy's, Robinson's-May and Dillard's.
Beautifully mixed in are specialty shops such as Williams-Sonoma,
Betsey Johnson and an oversized Victoria's Secret, which round out this
locals/tourists mall. The Fashion Show is the only "mall" on the Strip
that also caters to the locals, with easy parking and off-Strip access
to get in and out quickly without having to deal with the usual Las
Vegas Boulevard taxi-packed traffic.
Munchies are myriad, with everything from Wolfgang Puck's California
Pizza Kitchen, Mariposa in Neiman Marcus, Ra Sushi and Capital Grille
and Maggiano's Little Italy. The outside dining at Ra and Capital
Grille offer fabulous views of the Strip and Wynn Resort as well as
some of the best people-watching on the Strip.
You can valet at the Fashion Show or pick up a shuttle that can carry
you to other shopping destinations for about $5. Fashion Show is at
