Luxury Dining: There is just something special about a natural player, one who grows up in an environment that naturally nurtures a pattern of maturing that leads to a successful career, because it was just meant to be. In sports, Kobe Bryant, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tiger Woods, and Sidney Crosby are four who were nurtured, developed a passion for their game, and then grew to become phenomenally successful.
Executive Chef Sean Griffin of Neros at Caesars Palace fits the same bill. He grew up in a restaurant, worked for his father since he was barely a pubescent teen, and is now an award-winning chef of worldwide repute. It is a pretty impressive ascent for someone who never attended chef's school. He won the 1999 Premier Chefs Contest and received the 2005 Rising Star Award from StarChefs.com. Additionally, he has been invited to cook at the James Beard House.
Looking at Neros' beefy menu, Mr. Griffin can come over to my house and cook whenever he wants to do so. Neros is a steakhouse known for its meaty offerings, which include mouth-watering 16-ounce NY strip steaks, 10-ounce filet mignons, and Black Angus short ribs. A signature steak sauce also is included along with complementary side dishes, such as baked russet potatoes, creamed spinach, and shaved onion rings with smoked paprika.
Neros is not just a one-dimensional restaurant. It has a lot more tasty selections on it menu. Some other entrees of the non-red-meat variety are savory wild salmon, red snapper, crab cakes, and full-range chicken entrees. And like all the other fine restaurants of Caesars Palace, an excellent selection of fine wines is available.
It may be necessary to return just for dessert, as there may not be sufficient room to take in a piece of marble pound cake served with fresh fruit, or to jump into a chocolate fondue with a baby banana, or a diet-blowing piece of Mascarpone cheesecake. Mere mortals may find it very difficult to resist such tempting treats. Perhaps that is why the Qua spa's fitness center is so wildly popular, too.
