Blush Rises
Las Vegas Nightlife: Nothing in Vegas stays the same, and Vegas visionary Steve Wynn is one to watch when it comes to what really works in this town. After only three years, Mr. Wynn decided his elegant Lure lounge wasn't luxurious enough. He closed the lovely space, with an outdoor area, a rarity in Las Vegas lounges, in July to reopen this month with a several million-dollar makeover.
Wynn's chief interior designer for more than 20 years Roger Thomas splurged on the space, including silk walls and hand-blown chandeliers and soft, silver, velvety seat spots he designed himself. It appears to be working. Pam Anderson, who appears in Planet Hollywood hotel's "Hans Klok: The Beauty of Magic," appeared there thrice in the first two weeks of Blush's opening.
This is a boutique nightclub, rather than a lounge. The 4,500-square-foot Blush provides an open-room feel, with a few tucked away booths and sectionals for added fun. A white onyx dance floor was put in to mirror the hundreds of hanging silky LED-lit lanterns that change color and pulse with the DJ's spin of house music. Glass-topped tables inlaid with glitter reflect the lighted votives sprinkled around the open room. Private areas along the right wall are lined with oil paintings and provide a perfect backdrop for a rendezvous or a party hub. Padded seats above the floor chairs give you a good view of the action on the dance floor. Added bonus: Ladies can stash their stuff in secure lockers around the club so that they can flirt and frolic without the baggage.
Blush is open nightly at 5 p.m. and, Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. Blush Tuesdays is industry night with DJ Mighty Mi; Project Thursdays features DJ Jack Lafleur. Call (702) 770-WYNN. For LxM Kimberley McGee
